You will fly past the ice peaks of Kanchenjunga, Makalu and Mt. Everest to Lhasa, the spiritual center of Tibet visited by pilgrims from all parts of the country.

Mingling with them you wander around the Jokhang, Tibet's holiest temple. You will visit the mighty Potala Palace perched high above the old city, it is the landmark of Lhasa. You will visit other holy sites around Lhasa. A visit of Reting Monastery, nestled on a hill above the Kyicho river and surrounded by a juniper forest.

Then it is on to the North. Close to the Nyenchentangla chain and across the Lhachen La (4,150m) we drive to the holy lake Namtso on the shores of which you will camp. Peace and quietness lies in the air. Two days you will stay here at the highest salt lake of Tibet (over 4,600m) and hike along its Southern shore through grassland of the nomads to the cave monastery of Tashi Doje. After visiting the Red Hat monastery Yangpachen your yaks will be loaded and your 4-day trek starts. The trail leads to the beautifully located nun monastery Dorjeling and across the Lhasar L on to Tsurphu monastery, the head monastery of the Kargyupas north of Lhasa.

A unique landscape awaits you on your way back from Lhasa to Katmandu. Traveling along the high Tibetan plateau and crossing the Himalayan chain you follow the Arniko Highway south. The road leads across 5,000m passes and offers breath-taking views of Cho Oyu, Gaurisankar and the gargantuan ice peak of Shishapangma and Mt. Everest. En route you visit Khumbum chorten in Gyantse, the monastery complex of Tashilunpo in Shigatse, the Sakya monastery, which was the school of the trance runners in olden times. And not to forget, Samding monastery on the shores of Lake Yamdrok, the only monastery with a female incarnation as its head lama.
